What Is Pre-Grading?

• Check for scratches, print lines, and blemishes under a bright light and magnification.

• Use a microfiber cloth to remove minor dust or particles.

2. Corner & Edge Examination

• Look for whitening, bends, or fraying under magnification.

• Use a blacklight or loupe to catch minor imperfections.

3. Centering Analysis

• Measure centering using a centering tool or digital analysis.

• Compare front and back centering for best accuracy.

4. Overall Condition Assessment

• Assign an estimated grade range based on industry standards (e.g., PSA, BGS, CGC).

• Recommend whether grading is worth it or if a card is better sold raw.

5. Customer Consultation

• Explain findings to the client and suggest next steps.

• Offer cleaning and preparation services if needed before submission.
